On series and parallel configurations of pumps, a particularly good analogy to electrical circuits may be formed. The pumps are fitted to a base plate ready for installation. This is slid into the mounting on the HM 365.10 Basic Module Water Pumps and fixed in place. The pumps are equipped with electronic sensors for the acquisition of the intake and delivery pressure. After filling with water, the pump is connected to the experimental set-up using flexible hoses. Additional hoses are supplied. To be able to interchange the pumps easily and straightforwardly, the hoses are equipped with rapid action couplings. The motor necessary for drive is fitted to the HM 365 Universal Drive and Brake Unit.
Learning Objectives / Experiments
Together with the HM 365 Universal Drive and Brake Unit and the HM 365.10 Basic Module Water Pumps, the following experiments are possible:
· Recording of pump curves
· Determination of the power required for series and parallel configuration
· Determination of the hydraulic power output for series and parallel configuration
· Determination of the pump efficiency
· Determination of the system characteristic and operating point for both cases
